It’s unusual for a rain forest valley to have this many waterfalls close together, so this is a popular spot on Maui’s famous Hana Highway. We hike 2.5 miles round trip to waterfalls from 10 to 40 feet high. Depending on how fast you hike, you can reach three to five falls. There are great waterfalls, big, clear swimming pools, fresh-water streams, gorgeous bamboo and tropical rain forests. Plus, you can jump off rock cliffs and swing from a rope swing. The whole area is a playground of beauty and adventure. And the waterfalls can’t be beat.
Seeing a rain forest with a knowledgeable naturalist is both fun and educational. Your guide weaves geology, botany, culture and history into the joy of walking in nature. You’ll see firsthand why Hawai’i’s ecosystem is unique-why so many of the plants, birds and insects are found nowhere else on Earth.
